Meet Annychka

Annychka Pasichnyk, a student from Lviv, Ukraine, has spent the last two years at Xavier High School in Appleton, Wisconsin, through the Global Outreach Program, an international student exchange. At school, Annychka is involved in cross country, basketball, and powerlifting. She was originally set to stay for one year, but her stay was extended due to the war. Her father is stationed in Zaporizhzhia, an active war zone.

What She Needs

As she prepares to graduate from high school, she hopes to attend Winona State University next year. As an international student, she is ineligible for financial aid. Before she can receive the before she can receive the Form I-20 that is required of international students, she must show that she has the funds needed to cover her school and living expenses for one year.

Fortunately, a local Winona couple has agreed to host Annychka during her time at WSU, providing room and board and an “adopted” family.

This reduces the amount that she must have on hand by July 1 to approximately $13,000. Annychka is working to earn scholarships by getting a high English proficiency test score; these scholarships could potentially reduce the amount she needs to have on hand by $1,000 to $3,500.

Once her first year’s expenses are raised, she expects to work to raise the money needed for subsequent years’ school expenses.

How to Help

The Winona Sheltering Network, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is happy to host this fundraiser. All donations are tax-deductible and will go directly toward her education fund. You will be sent a receipt to use for tax purposes by email.
